Advice to the younger me - You can't please everyone

That disapproving look
ignore it
Those expectations
don't care

Disappoint a few people
no guilt allowed
Decide on a few who matter
set your priorities

I think of my choices
every step of the way
So many advises...
actually it's just one

You can't please everyone
don't try to
If you think everyone approves
you're doing something wrong

Be selfish - a little
Compromise - when you want to
Choose who matters - most don't
'You can't please everyone'

Human Trafficking

Penning thoughts
of what you are feeling
how can I?

A few days
when in material comforts
life's essence was changing

he was dying
I felt shattered
I had so much still

family, and love, and home
what happens when you
lose it all?

Do you lose yourself too?
Enslaved, Uncertain

Years on
returning home
they call it a rescue

Am I happy?
What am I returning to,
I have a home?

Fear - Quadrille

What worse is possible?
I fear these words
I have heard them often
When they were in pain
When they’d lost a lot
They said they’d lost all
I know of worse
I’ve heard stories
And tons I don’t know

Much worse is possible

Chocolate - Haiku

I think I am responding to a Haiku prompt from Mindlovemisery's Menagerie for the first time. Once I read that the prompt is 'Chocolate', it was difficult to resist...

The first thing that came to my mind when I thought of writing about chocolate is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I was surprised at myself.

And here's another one-
